Colorado Springs School District 11
1115 N. El Paso Street
Colorado Springs, CO 80903
Dear Members of the Colorado Springs School District Board of Education:
(Please express your support here. You may use the following to inform your letter):
Vision - To nurture children as independent learners, curious explorers, self-motivated inventors, creative thinkers, ethical leaders and skilled future workforce capable of contributing to the advancement of the community and the world.
Mission - To provide a learning environment that nurtures happiness, creativity, innovation, character and skills alongside with self-motivated pursuit of knowledge through expeditionary learning and civic engagement.
School Model - Inventa Academy is being designed to give voice and choice to students while sparking creativity, innovation, and inquiry through Expeditionary Learning (EL), where meaningful experiences empower students to become active contributors for the betterment of their community. EL is based on self-discovery, contribution of ideas, responsibility for learning, developing empathy, caring for others, learning from failure, collaboration, appreciation of diversity, commitment to inclusion, appreciation of the natural world, time devoted to solitude and reflection, the value of service and compassion. Our students will be able to learn by playing and by doing through project-based learning and will develop empathy through social service.
Several programs will enrich the curriculum, such as a Spanish Immersion Program, run by native Spanish-speaking staff; a Mindfulness Program embedded within the daily routine; and a Health and Nutrition Program including an edible school garden, nutrition curriculum, healthy lunch preparation and a wellness center.
Please note the following statement from the Standard Application Guidebook Rubric:
These letters should state why the individual believes a new charter school would best serve the community. The tone of this section should illustrate a positive foundation of community support as opposed to a groundswell based on criticism. Care should be given to avoid derogatory comments about the authorizer’s current curricular and program offerings.)
Thank you for reviewing my letter as part of the Inventa Academy’s charter school application. Please contact me if you have any question.
