Inventa Academy will be a small learning community where students actively participate, collaborate, discuss, make decisions, design, create and invent under the Expeditionary Learning Model. Spanish will be included in the curriculum in two ways: as an elective class or as part of a Dual Language Immersion Program. One of the main goals of the school is to promote social-emotional well-being among students and staff. The school will open in the fall of 2022 to serve students in preK-4, and will organically grow one grade level per year to eventually become a preK-8 school.

Academics

Inventa Academy is being designed to give voice and choice to students while sparking creativity, innovation, and inquiry through Expeditionary Learning, where meaningful experiences empower students to become active contributors for the betterment of their community. Expeditionary Learning perfectly blends Project-Based Learning and Social-Emotional Learning, allowing for a different type of school experience. Learning happens when students work on projects and collaborate, through meaningful interaction with experts, during field trips, when performing social service, or even while playing. Project-based learning emphasizes children’s active participation in the planning, development, and assessment of their own work. It also allows students to experience and learn important skills, dispositions and abilities that can’t be acquired otherwise.

Social-Emotional Learning

Everyone learns better when their social-emotional needs are being met. We are committed to understanding students’ needs, honoring their developmental stage, offering a safe and relaxed learning environment, and finally challenging students with an innovative curricula totally connected to the real and modern world relevant to them. Inventa students will enjoy a rich school environment with caring and supportive interpersonal relationships based on trust and respect, opportunities to participate in decision-making, and shared positive norms, goals, and values. Teachers, administrators and parents will work together to help children grow in a healthy way within a safe environment where development is central. The Inventa community will be a place where we support each other to succeed, and both students and adults are inspired to be their best selves.
